Sunday, January 15th
- Because of the Star Wars Marathon this Weekend, there will be several road closures around the church. The closures closest to the church should reopen by 9:00 a.m. If you need to be here before that and are coming from the 22 freeway or south of the church take Trask to Taft, go north on Taft, turn left on Century, cross GG Blvd. onto Nelson, turn right on Stanford, then right on Main If there are officers monitoring traffic, just tell them you are going to the church and they should let you through. Westbound Chapman and northbound Euclid onto Main will remain open throughout the marathon. All closures around the church should be opened by the time church is over.

9:30 a.m. – Rev. Dr. Bau Dang’s sermon will be “Who Is Jesus for You?” using the Scripture John 1:29-42.

- Monday, January 16th – the Church Office will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
- The deadline for the February issue (mailed Thursday, January 26th)of Expectations is 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 17th. Any events occurring in February and March should be in this issue. - Are you having trouble hearing or UNDERSTANDING during the service? Larry Ogle reports that new “hearing impaired ear phones” with ear buds are available. When you come into the sanctuary, please ask one of the ushers for the new ear phones (hearing aids).
- Remember to look for the clipboard, on the counter in the office next to the Flower Calendar book, to sign up to be a Sunday Greeter! We need greeters for February! You can call the Church Office, 714-534-1070, to sign up to greet as well.
Coming Events
- More Good News! A new Bible Study on the Beatitudes beginsTuesday, January 17th at 6:30 p.m. and Thursday, January 19th at 1:00 p.m. in the Lounge and will meet once a week for six weeks. Pastor Lui Tran will lead the Tuesday evening class beginning with alight soup pot luck dinner and Rev. Bau Dang the one on Thursday afternoon. The book will be “The Beatitudes” by John Stott and will cost approximately $8.00. A sign-up sheet is available in the office during the week and on Sunday mornings. After Easter there will be a study of Revelations at the same times. If you have questions please contact Hal Colebaugh at 714-980-3613.
- Saturday, March 4th, 1:00 p.m. – A Garden of Orchids, the United Methodist Women’s 49th Annual Tea & Fashion Show in Acker Hall. Come and join us for a lovely tea and fashions by Grace Doan, sister of Binh Dang. They will be a combination of Vietnamese dress and original designs. If you would like to host a table, please contact Jonni Lorenz 714-638-4640. Tickets are $25.00 and are available on the Patio after Worship starting on Sunday, February 19th.
